Day Spa Facial Treatments

Beautiful eyes, the perfect nose, high cheekbones.

Poor complexion, blackheads, and other blemishes can camouflage all of these. Day spa facial treatments refresh the complexion, remove facial impurities, and minimize wrinkling.

The facial is generally considered as one of the standard day spa treatments and may range in type from a hot towel to a chemical peel. Typically, a complete facial involves more than one procedure. For instance, the European Facial is a skin treatment that includes a deep cleaning facial, blemish removal, facial massage, and a special hydrating mask.

In addition to complete facials, many day spas offer partial treatments that address specific issues on a part of the face. An example of a partial facial is eye contour therapy. The goal of eye contour therapy is to remove or minimize puffiness and dark circles around the eyes and tighten the skin in the eye area, resulting in a fresher and more youthful appearance.

Although facial treatments are standard at many day spas, certain types of facial treatments should be left in the hands of the licensed practitioners you find at medically oriented day spas.

Popular Day Spa Facials

Aromatherapy Facial Treatments

Aromatherapy uses the essential oils and aromatic compounds of plants. When applied to your skin, these essential oils are not only refreshing, but also increase body heat and kill germs and fungi. Some examples of oils used in aromatherapy are eucalyptus, grapefruit, rosewater, and chamomile. These oils are considered safe even for in home use and are often a part of day spa aroma therapeutic facials.

Day Spa Masks

Common materials used in day spa masks include milk and honey, seaweed, cucumbers, and clay. Generally, the removal of a mask is followed by soothing massage with a spa product that nurtures, moisturizes, and revitalizes your skin.

C-antioxidant Facial

This facial uses a rich blend of antioxidants and citrus extracts that both cleanse and tone your skin.

Medically-Oriented Facial Treatments

Collagen Injections

Simply put, collagen is an injectible filler that is injected under the first layer of skin (epidermis) and replenishes depleted collagen in the second layer of skin (the dermis). Although collagen literally fills in wrinkles, it is a temporary solution. However, other injectible fillers may offer long-term solutions. These include Artecoll, Autologen, Dermalogen, and your own body fat.

Botox® Injections

Botox® is an injected cosmetic that relaxes specific facial muscles, smoothing forehead wrinkles, ironing out crow's feet, and putting a smile on your face without the laugh lines!

Intense Pulse Light Therapy

Intense pulse light therapy both rejuvenates skin and removes hair. A qualified physician selects a range of wavelengths to treat conditions that include broken capillaries, pigmentation discolorations, and fine wrinkling of the skin.

Chemical Skin Peels

Chemical peels involve applying a mild acidic solution to the skin that exfoliates the upper layers of the skin. A popular type of chemical skin peel is one that uses the AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) found in fruits. However, the depth of the peel depends on the strength of the solution used. Only a licensed health practitioner should perform the chemical skin peel.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a mechanical peel that gently exfoliates the skin by using a stream of crystals and suction. Although considered a mild procedure, microdermabrasion is another medically oriented facial procedure that should only be performed by a health care professional.
